Here are some key points to care for your enhancements once you leave the salon,
these pointers will ensure your nails stay in tip top condition, and help you to get the most for your money.
Do's and dont's
*If you break a nail or if it begins to lift, Get in touch with your technician and book a repair appointment right away,
Dont, be tempted to pink, or remove the rest yourself.
*Do NOT attempt to repair the nail yourself, Improperly gluing down a loose nail, can cause moisture to become trapped between the nail and the enhancement, leading to possible infection.
*Do not bandage a broken nail, for the same reasons as above, bandaging can cause trapped moisture also.
*Do not take down the length or your enhancements yourself, as this can throw off the balance of your nail, and may make the nail look bulky, this will also alter the stress area.
Treat your nails like jewels NOT tools!
*Protect your investment by wearing gloves when gardening, or exposing hands to water for extended periods of time.
*Do not put upwards pressure on your nail tips, use a spoon or similar to open cans of pop etc..
Use a pencil or similar to dial phones.
Wherever you can, use a substitute to do things, instead of using your nails.
Add some extra's
Your nail technician may suggest you apply a top coat every other day (or more often depending on exposure to the sun) this will prevent chipping or yellowing.
Cuticle oil is also a daily nessesity as it keeps cuticles supple and the acrylic product flexible.
Your nails WILL benifit from regular cuticle treatments.
Listen to your nail technician
Can't decide what length and type of enhancement you'd like ?
Your nail technician will be more than happy to help.
For example, if you are hard on your nails because you work on a computer etc..shorter nails with rounded edges will be your best option.
Call in sick if you have a contagious skin or nail condition, wait until it clears before visiting the salon again,
If symptoms persist, make an appointment with a dermatologist.
Be aware of what you have.
Very few clients will develop and allergic reaction to an ingredient in some nail products,
Allergic reactions are characterized by, redness, itching and swelling of the skin around the nails, or irritation around the eyes and mouth.
If you develop any of these symptoms, call your nail technician, she will help you to determine which ingredients you are having a reaction to and will take steps to avoid them,
If necessary. she can refer you to a dermatologist.
Do not ignore a condition that develops around the nail.
Dont take them off yourself !
If you decide that you no longer want to wear enhancements, do NOT take them off yourself.
Picking and pulling the nail enhancements off will damage your natural nail, rip layers from your nail plate, and make regrowth a long, possibly painful progress,
Your technician can safely remove your enhancements for you.
